Many pregnant women feel sick or vomit during early pregnancy.For pregnant women, nausea and vomiting are more likely to develop in the first or second month of pregnancy and start declining at the end of the first trimester of pregnancy in week 18 outdoors. However, up to 20 percent of women may find that their symptoms lasting sickness in the third quarter, and 5 percent experience nausea and vomiting to delivery.In most cases are mild and can be solved by several home remedies and cures by herbal medicine.

Ayurvedic herbs used by vomiting during pregnancy

1. Peppermint (Mentha piperita):  All mints are very effective in controlling morning sickness. Examples are spearmint, peppermint and Horsemint. Its aromas and flavors can stimulate the different channels of the body and alleviate feelings of nausea and vomiting.

Jaundice is a aliment in which yellowing of the skin, mucous membranes or eyes takes place. The reasons for yellow color is due to bilirubin, a byproduct of old red blood cells. Jaundice can be a symptom of other health problems in day to day life. Every day, a small number of red blood cells in your body die which are replaced by new ones. The liver removes old red blood cells, forming bilirubin in which the liver helps break down bilirubin so that it can be eliminated by the body in stool.When too much bilirubin builds up in the body, can cause jaundice.

Types and Causes of jaundice

1.Hemolytic Anemia: This includes conditions such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia. It may also be an autoimmune disease.


2.Gilbert 's syndrome: This condition is very common,it is harmless inherited condition that is affecting about 2% of the population. Minor defects in liver metabolism of bilirubin causes jaundice it is generally due to stress, exercise, starvation, or infection.

3.Viral hepatitis: Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, can temporary cause liver inflammation. Types B and C can also cause chronic  lifetime inflammation.

4.Medication induced hepatitis: This can be caused by alcohol, erythromycin, methotrexate, amiodarone, statins (eg, lovastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin), nitrofurantoin, testosterone, oral contraceptives, acetaminophen, and many other drugs.


5.Gallstones: The gallstones formed in the gallbladder, can block the bile ducts, preventing bile (and bilirubin) reaching the intestines. Sometimes, the bile ducts may become infected and inflamed and resulted in jaundice.

6.Cholestasis pregnancy: Abdominal pressure closes the ducts between the liver and gall bladder, or between the gallbladder and intestine may cause Jaundice that is common in pregnancy.

7.Tumours: These can be in the liver, the pancreas or gallbladder which are responsible for occasionally obstruction.


8.Autoimmune Hepatitis: In this condition, the body's immune system attacks its own liver cells. This type of hepatitis is more common in individuals and families with other autoimmune diseases such as diabetes,lupus,ulcerative colitis or thyroid disease.Primary biliary cirrhosis is another autoimmune liver disease and inflammation of the bile ducts.

9.Alcoholic liver disease:In this the liver is damage due to long-term excessive alcohol consumption which may result in jaundice.

10.Malaria: In this the liver destroys red blood cells infected with the parasite.

11.Jaundice in newborn babies: This condition is in many newborns.

Ayurvedic View on Jaundice

The treatment of all liver diseases in Ayurveda focuses on Pitta dosha rather than the body itself. All liver diseases have imbalances of pitta and agni. Apart from this, Ojus also affected. As the liver is the basis of Pachaka Pitta, all liver diseases can be treated at the same time trying Pachaka Pitta.

The liver is an organ of fire, All Bhuta-Agnis (fire): Nabhasa Agni, Agni Vayavya, Tejo Agni, Apo Agni, and Agni Parthiva are located here. These agnis and Ranchaka pitta originating in the liver serve to break down substances into their respective elemental factors akasham (space), vayu (air), thejus (fire), p (water) and Prithvi (earth) and distribute them to the appropriate tissues (dhatus ) in the body.

With this in mind, an Ayurvedic doctor treats liver diseases, considering them as pitha rogas (diseases manifested through corruption pitha). The drugs and diets that alleviate pitha are commonly used for all types of liver diseases.

Ayurvedic Herbs for Jaundice

Natural Home Remedies for Jaundice

1.Bitter Luffa:The juice of bitter luffa is one of the effective treatments to cure jaundice. To do this, with the aid of the fabric has to tighten on the bitter luffa. Common Types of Warts

Common warts – They are mostly found on hands fingers, knees and elbows where the skin seems to be broken. These type of warts are also called "seed Warts” because of its appearance, in this type of warts the blood vessels to the wart produce black dots that look like a seeds.

Home Remedies for Warts

1. Take a juice from the leaf of the Indian sorrel plant, mix it with some juice of an onion and apply this on the warts for removal.

2. Take a juice from the leaf of the Indian sorrel plant mix it with black pepper and ghee. It is best remedy for the warts or excrescences of the skin that are caused due to biliousness.

3. Take a teaspoon of coriander leaves juice with a pinch of turmeric in it and consume it daily.

4. Take a slice of raw potato and rub it on the wart for about ten minutes daily this method will help to remove warts.

5. Take the peel of a banana and keep the inner side of banana peel on the warts, tie it like a bandage. Change the bandage twice daily follow this constantly on the wart until the wart disappears.

6. Castor oil is also very helpful to fight against warts. Applied it regularly on the warts this will help the warts to become flexible and eventually disappear. One can also use camphor oil instead of castor oil.

7. Take a piece of clove of garlic, crush it do not make a paste. Keep this crushed garlic clove on the wart and bandage it this will help to remove warts.

8. The oil of the tea leaves is also useful to discharge the wart, apply the oil at night before going to bed; you will find that the wart slowly decreasing and disappearing.

9. Take a fresh fruit of Indian gooseberry rub on the warts, repeat several times a day. You can also use the juice of Indian gooseberry to rub on the wart, keep it covered with a bandage. One can also use any vitamin C tablets instead of Indian gooseberry, crushed and kept onto the warts and bandage it.

10. A similar kind of bandage treatment can also be done with grapefruit juice. Put a fresh grapefruit juice on the wart cover the area with a bandage and repeat this three or four times a day this will help the wart to disappears.

Pippali (Piper longum Linn.)is an herb that belongs in a family of Piperaceae, it is an aromatic, thin and crawling flowering plant. Piper longum is generally known as long pepper or the Indian long pepper (pipli). It is popularly used as a flavoring and additive agent in preparation of diverse foods and herbal preparations.

It is indigenous to indo- Malaya region and is mostly cultivated in India, Indonesia, Timor, Nepal, Sri-lanka, Philippines and the region of Malaysia. Pippali Plant Description

What is Rasayana?

Rasayana is a unique therapy that contains different structures of rejuvenation. The word Rasayana derives from two words (Rasa +Ayana). Take one to six gram of Pippali Powder; mix with 200 to 300 ml of buttermilk and consume.

Terminalia bellerica also known as "Bibhitaki" is a large deciduous tree that grows to a high of 50 m tall, a width of 3 m and looks like a rounded crown. It is customarily buttressed trunk near the base, and its branchless are up to 20 m long. 

The barks are bluish or ashy-grey masked with a lot of fine longitudinal cracks, and the inner part of bark looks yellowish. 

The Leaves of Baheda"Bibhitaki" are large, alternate, glabrous, broadly oval-shaped with obovate and size about 4-24 cm x 2-11 cm. The basis of the leaf is circled to be cuneate, rufous-sericeous but soon glabrescent, with 6-9 pairs of secondary veins. The subordinate and tertiary venations are projecting from both sides clustered near the ends of branchlets. The young leaves are copper-red but soon become parrot green ultimately turns to dark green. 

The flowers are separate small about 3-15 cm long with greenish white, simple, alar points, calyx tube thickly puberulent or omentula. The flowers develop along with new leaves and hold a strong honey-like scent. 

The fruits of Baheda are sub-globular to broadly ellipsoid and are about 2-4 x 1.8-2.2 cm. They are densely glutinous or pubescent, light-yellow, unclearly 5-angled and finely brown tomentosa.

4. Kidney Stones: When minerals in the urine crystallize and form small hard deposits in the kidney results in kidney stones. It can cause extreme pain and can effect in large or microscopic hematuria.

3. Drinking fresh Amla juice daily can be helpful.

Ayurvedic Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infections

• Cinnamon or dalchini, one teaspoonful (5 g), thrice a day has antiseptic activity. It should be given for three weeks. It can be consumed by sprinkling on the salad also.

• Gokshuradi-guggul is the drug of choice in treating dysuria. One tablet is given with six teaspoonfuls (30 ml) of Gokshura-quatha, twice a day.

• Lashuna (Garlic) is remarkably effective at micro-organisms causing cystitis. Consuming 2 to 3 fresh a day can be helpful.

• Chandraprabha-vati, two tablets three times a day, is helpful in reducing burning sensation. Once relief is there, one tablet twice a day should be consumed for seven more days to prevent recurrence.

• Chandrakala rasa is the drug of choice for treating haematuria. One tablet, thrice a day is given for severe cases. In mild haematuria, one tablet twice a day is recommended. Prolonged use should be avoided.

• Chandanasva, six teaspoonfuls (30 ml), with equal quantity of water, is highly efficacious in preventing bleeding from the urinary tract.

• Compound tragacanth powder, one teaspoonful (5g), thrice a day is helpful in healing ulcers caused by scratching of the organ by stones. It contains goond katira (tragacanth) 150 g, babool goond (acacia) 200g, starch 200 g and sugar 450 g. All these ingredients should be finely powdered and mixed in a uniform pattern.

• Yava-kshara or potassium bicarbonate (it is prepared by burning of Apamarga) acts as a renal alkalinizer. The dose of Yava-ksahara should be prepared by an expert Ayurvedic Physician.

• Alternatively, decoction of poonarnava in a dose of three teaspoonfuls (15 ml) is good diuretic.

Diet & Precautions

• Six to eight glasses of water a day are must.

• Alcohol and coffee should be forbidden.

• The urge for urination should not be suppressed.

• If a patient has recurrent attack of cystitis, he or she must consult doctor for proper treatment.

• Fluid intake should be more.

• Shali variety of rice, roasted green grams, cow milk, mango, cucumber, cardamom, and isabgol are beneficial.

• Pea, curd, white grams, hing or asafoetida, boiled vegetables, banana, and intercourse are contraindicated.

• Ayurvedic medicine called "Yavakshara" is helpful; it is an alkali mixture made of Yava or barley containing potassium bicarbonate. It is beneficial in treatment of intestinal diseases, urinary problems. The dose of Yavaksahara should be used under expert Ayurvedic Physician.

• Ayurvedic Medicine called "Tragacanth powder" is beneficial, one teaspoonful or 5g thrice a day is helpful in healing ulcers resulted in by scratch of the organ by kidney stones.

• Ayurvedic medicine called "chandanasava" is helpful in urinary disorders and kidney diseases. Take six teaspoonfuls or about 30 ml with equal quantity of water. It is highly advantageous in preventing bleeding from the urinary tract.

• Dalchini (Cinnamon) has antiseptic activity, taking one teaspoonful or 5 g, thrice a day for three weeks can be useful. It can be eaten by sprinkling on the salad as well.

• Ayurvedic medicine called "Gokshuradi Churna" is also helpful for treating dysuria. Take 2 grams with honey, once or twice a day before or after food is useful.

• Ayurvedic medicine called "Chandrakala rasa" is best for treating haematuria. Take one tablet, thrice a day in serious cases and one tablet twice a day is recommended for normal. Prolonged use of this medicine should be avoided.

• Ayurvedic medicine called "chandraprabha vati"  is also helpful for treats urinary tract disorders like UTI,  taking two tablets three times a day can be beneficial in reducing burning sensation. As soon as it gets relief one should consume one tablet twice a day for seven more days to prevent recurrence.

• Lastly a decoction made of "poonarnava herb" is also benefical as it promotes health of the urinary tract as well as it helps to maintain well organized kidney function. The dose of three teaspoonfuls of 15 ml can be taken.

According to Ayurveda principles, our bodies are made up on three doshas, "Vata, Pitta, and Kapha" the energies that make up every individual different. The unevenness is the origin of all diseases within the body, in simple words if doshas are not in equilibrium it causes illness.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that cannot be simply treated by controlling sugar levels. As per Ayurveda text, there are about twenty different types of diabetes (premahas) exist in Ayurveda, which is responsible to give rise to Madhumeha.

How to use bitter gourd: Take 1 cup of roughly chopped, deseeded bitter gourd (karela) now combine the bitter gourd with 1/2 cup of water in mixer and blend till smooth. Strain the mixture using another 1/2 cup of water. Add 1/2 tsp lemon juice and salt mix well, the juice and serve immediately.

3. Garlic (Allium Satirum)

When a person is unable to produce enough insulin or used the insulin their body does produce in an efficient manner those results in ailments known as diabetes. Garlic is known to have more than 400 chemical elements that are helpful to body and can prevent and treat a diverse range of health problems. 

Besides this, it also has a compound known as "allyl propyl disulfide,""allicin" and "S-allyl cysteine sulfoxide" that boost insulin levels within the blood through the prevention of the liver's inactivation of insulin, so that further insulin is available in the body. According to Ayurveda practices, diabetes is a vata disorder, and garlic is used to treat various vata issues.

How to use Garlic: Take garlic clove peel it and chop it into tiny pieces, crush them and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes and then add it to your food. Leaving chopped garlic for 10 to 15 minutes will release a compound called "allacin" that contains medicinal benefits.

4. Fenugreek (Trigonella Foenum Graecum)

Fenugreek seed is also called Methi in Hindi it is an herb that offers many medicinal benefits besides diabetes. Fenugreek seeds have a chemical's elements that can help to lower blood glucose and other related symptoms such as tiredness confusion, headaches, dizziness, etc., which are generally related with diabetes.

5. Jamun/ Indian Plum (Syzygium Cumini)

Jamun has a property that works on the pancreas and controls the transformation of carbohydrates to sugar. How To Make Thick Curd (Dahi) At Home

There are various types of yogurt (flavored and plain) available at the supermarket these days. If you want to make fresh thick curd, you can easily make at home by heating the milk. Below is a curd recipes Indian style, follow the instructions given and make a wonderful yogurt (curd) at home.

Ingredients Required

• 1 tsp of curd/ yogurt / dahi as a starter
• 1 liter full fat milk (whole milk)

Note :Take up to ¾ to 1 tbsp if curd is gelatin based, or if you are making in winters.

Instructions

1. Clean a pot (handi) well now add milk and bring it to boil over low to medium flame.

2. Simmer the milk for 15 minutes on a very low flame to get thick curd. Keeping stirring else the milk will burn and smell bad. You can skip this step if you want to have a moderately thick yogurt. (This step is to get a very thick curd.)

3. Let the milk to cool down to the room temperature.

4. Now add a tsp of yogurt (dahi a starter) to the milk and stir it well.

5. Now cover & place the bowl to a warm place and allow it to set for about 6 to 10 hours depending on the climate.

Recipe Notes

Do not add yogurt to hot milk, it will congeal the milk.
Using the sour starter will yield a sour dahi so always take fresh dahi
If your milk does not set well you can increase the quantity of (Yogurtdahi a starter)

Plant Distribution

Patharchatta plant (Bryophyllum pinnatum) is native to Madagascar, but plants are found in most part of the world with the countries like New Zealand, West Indies, Macaroneia,   Mascarenes, Australia, Galapagos, Polynesia, Hawaii, etc.  

In is also is found in Nepal, Pakistan, Brazil, Egypt, Myanmar, Thailand, Africa. Patharchatta plants are found in most regions of India but in Kashmir, Himalayas and Khasi Hills the region of Assam; they are found in a large amount. 

These days these plants are cultivated in parts on Indian states such as Karnataka, Andhra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, etc.

Plant Description

Plant: It is small, upstanding, succulent perennial herb that grows about 1f- 2f in height.

Leaves: The leaves of this plant are about 5-25 cm long and 2-12cm wide, with simple leaves in lower parts but upper parts have complex joint leaves. It has 6-7 leaves in opposite pattern with a stalk (petioles) about 2-10 cm long. 

The leaves have an ovate or just oval shape and circled tips (obtuse apices).  The end leaflet is notably larger than the others. The new plants are formed from leaves when it is detached from the plant.

Flower: The flowers of this plant bloom at the top of its stem in branched clusters, with greenish-yellow to pinkish-red in color. It has drooping, tube-shaped flowers that are about 7 cm long and form cymose panicle. 

The stalks are about 10 to 25 mm long size and are partially merged into a calyx tube that supports the four lobes of the petal. The flower blooms in winter and spring.

Fruit: The Fruits are papery with a membrane-forming look, with four slender carpels that contain the seeds. The seeds of the fruits are small, oblong-ellipsoid, which is less than one mm in size, which remains enclosed within the old flowers.

When there are not many pimples, but occasionally there are still some pimples that would like to heal, then this Ayurvedic face pack with Besan, mint and basil leaves is ideal you. This pack makes the skin free of pimples and redness. 

You will need 7-8 leaves of mint, 7-8 leaves of Tulsi and a teaspoon of Besan (chickpea/Gram flour). Crush the leaves and make a paste of all three products with water or rose water.

Keeping this for 20 minutes and once a week is enough; however you can treat it 2 times a week if you wish. Ayurvedic face packs are effective and totally natural that can easily be prepared at home.
